Paddle¶

Paddle is a Merchant of Record platform for software and digital products. This driver targets Paddle Billing: products and prices define what is sold, transactions represent checkout/payment, and subscriptions handle recurring billing.

Setup¶

Use Paddle's sandbox API base and sandbox credentials when testing. The driver authenticates server requests with the API key. The client token is for your client-side Paddle checkout setup; do not use it in place of the server API key.

Create a transaction¶

You can also provide a Paddle price_id and quantity or explicit items. Amounts are passed in major units; conversion to provider minor-unit strings is handled internally.

Plans, subscriptions, and payment links¶

The shared interfaces are payment, subscription, and payment link. Package plans map to Paddle Prices, recurring subscriptions map to Paddle Subscriptions, and payment links are Paddle-hosted links. Catalog setup and account product permissions remain provider-managed.

Webhooks¶

Configure POST /webhooks/payment-gateways/paddle and set the endpoint's notification secret in PADDLE_WEBHOOK_SECRET. Paddle signs the raw request using its Paddle-Signature timestamp/HMAC format; preserve the raw body and enable signature verification. See webhook handling.
